There is a renewed interest in sculpture outdoors with some spectacular public art, the Angel of the North, the proposed White Horse at Ebbsfleet and more and more ‘sculpture gardens’ around the country, capturing people’s imaginations.
Buying a piece of sculpture is becoming ever easier, as ‘Open Studios’ become a permanent feature of the summer country scene. Demand for buying a piece of unique sculpture created by a living, UK based sculptor is growing as many people look to experience the deeper pleasure in their gardens that comes with the relationship between Art and the garden.
Leonardslee is proud to provide examples of major works and sculpture that we hope might cause a smile and prove irresistible.
In particular, we are honoured to host The Royal Sculptor, Philip Jackson’s ‘The Grandees’, which can be found on the front lawns by the mansion. His bronze tribute to the Queen Mother, unveiled in London’s Mall, close to Buckingham Palace, earlier this year is the latest in a series of British Landmarks, including the Queen on horseback in Windsor Great Park.
The main sculpture exhibition aims to show works by sculptors, who work in a variety of different materials displaying the diversity and dynamism of the current British Sculpture scene.
Many of the works are very affordable and all are extremely robust and weather resistant. Displayed in the Courtyard we hope that it might provide inspiration and a little pleasure.
Purchasing sculptures
Most of the works on display are available for sale, and can be purchased through the gardens. If you are looking for something similar than please contact the artists directly or contact Maundy Todd.
